ENTtoday is pleased to announce the selection of a new editor for the publication. Alexander G. Chiu, MD, will begin his term as editor-in-chief of ENTtoday on January 1, 2018, replacing founding editor Robert Miller, MD, who is retiring from the position at the end of 2017.
Dr. Chiu is the Russell E. Bridwell, MD, Endowed Chairman and Professor of the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Kansas in Kansas City. His academic and clinical focus is in the field of endoscopic and minimally invasive surgery of the nose, sinuses, and skull base.
Dr. Chiu’s Background
Previous to his appointment at KUMC, Dr. Chiu served as the Founding Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Arizona (UA) and started his career on faculty at the University of Pennsylvania. He has held multiple leadership roles, including co-Chair of Banner-UA Academic Management Council, Interim Chair of the UA Department of Surgery, UA Otolaryngology Residency Program Director and the Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery Fellowship Director at both the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Arizona.
He completed his medical degree at Albany Medical College and residency training in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and he completed a fellowship in sinus and skull base surgery at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif.
Dr. Chiu is also past editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Rhinology & Allergy and the editor of two textbooks: Sinonasal Tumors and Atlas of Endoscopic Sinus and Skull Base Surgery. He has published more than 130 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on sinus and skull base surgery.
