How to: Neonatal Ear Molding

Results

The patient was seen in the office 11 days after the ear molding initiation. Normal anatomic curvature of the helix with appropriate concavity of the scaphoid fossa was restored on the left. The right scaphoid fossa still appeared shallow in comparison to the left, and the recommendation was made to continue application of Steri-Strips for an additional one week. Taping was applied continuously during the initial three weeks and again about one month later when some flattening of the left helix recurred. There was no evidence of skin breakdown, infection, or dermatitis at any point in treatment.
