New Laser Delivery Device

IRIDEX Corporation has announced the introduction of FlexFiber™, a laser fiber probe intended for effective delivery of laser energy.

FlexFiber is intended for the delivery of laser energy during otolaryngologic procedures. It is indicated for, but not limited to, incision, excision, coagulation, and vaporization of soft and fibrous tissue, including osseous tissue. Features include:

  • Pinpoint laser delivery for effective removal of polyps and adhesions.
  • Flexible fiber tip for easy access of target site via a cannula.
  • Fiber sizes available in 200, 300, 400 and 600 micron diameters.
  • Compatible with OcuLight TX for high power and high speed of laser delivery.

The addition of the FlexFiber probe will expand the utilization of the IRIDEX OcuLight TX laser consoles currently used to perform otology procedures, commented Theodore A. Boutacoff, IRIDEX President & CEO. The FlexFiber probe diversifies IRIDEX’ product offering in this ever-expanding ENT market.

Accessory for Nerve Locator System

Neurovision Medical Products has introduced the new EMGView software accessory for the Nerveäna Nerve Locator System for thyroidectomy, parotidectomy, and neck dissection. This software provides skin to skin, automatic archive of the complete output of the Nerveäna device including evoked responses, free-run EMG, and appropriate device performance data. All data are graphically indexed for rapid retrieval, and custom comments may be inserted. Nineteen hours of surgery can be saved on a single 4 GB flash drive. In addition, the EMGView provides Integrity Monitoring capability with a random alarm feature. Telemonitoring and troubleshooting are easily performed.

Dissolvable Sinus Dressing

Dissolvable Sinus Dressing

The new and improved Stammberger Sinu-Foam dissolvable sinus dressing consists of a fiber-filled syringe hydrated with water to create highly viscous foam that is injected directly into the surgical site. The foam dissolves and is eliminated through normal outflow, typically seven to 10 days after the procedure. It prevents adhesions within the nasal cavities, controls minor bleeding and minimizes edema, and eliminates the need for painful postop removal of packing. The viscous foam conforms to nasal cavities while providing a moist physical barrier. The carboxymethyl-cellulose (CMC) remains in place and progressively dissolves with normal outflow and any remaining foam is easily debrided using gentle suction.
